Vintage Tonala Mexican Pottery Bird Hand Painted Folk Art Signed JL Mex

A beautiful vintage Tonalá Mexican folk art pottery bird figurine. Hand-molded and meticulously hand-painted by a skilled artisan in Jalisco, Mexico, this charming piece showcases the traditional burnished technique ("barro bruñido") characteristic of high-quality Tonalá studio pottery.

The bird features expressive stylized features, elegant striped patterns along the neck and head, and traditional geometric/nature accents across the wings and tail feathers. The underside reveals the raw earthy red clay legs, the characteristic artisan firing/breathing hole, and the crisp, clear handwritten maker's signature: "J.L. MEX."

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Structure is completely sound with no chips, cracks, or structural repairs. Exhibits original hand-brushed paint strokes and minor, age-appropriate surface characteristics typical of authentic mid-century Mexican pottery. Please review the detailed multi-angle photos for a precise look at the size and condition.

Perfect addition to any Southwestern decor, bohemian shelf styling, or vintage Mexican art collection!
